It’s only a few weeks until the 2014 American Music Awards air live on November 23, and the nominees were announced today. Some of the biggest names of the year were announced as contenders, and it comes as no surprise to those who love music and follow it closely. Leading the nominations this year for the American Music Awards is Australian-born rapper Iggy Azalea, who received six different nominations. She was nominated for Artist of the Year and Single of the Year just to name a few.
Not too far behind her, though, are a few names that have been part of the show before. Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams both earned five nominations, and dark singer Lorde earned four. Other famous singers who came in just shy of four include Luke Bryan and Beyonce, who some might be surprised to see not a little bit closer to the top of this particular list.
Fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite singers and songs and albums as the show gets closer, and the winners will be announced live on television. At the moment, we don’t yet know who will perform at the awards, who will make surprise appearances and who will collaborate on songs to entertain the audience. What we do know is that the competition is fierce, and that the list of nominees is good. Fans are going to find it difficult to vote on their favorites this year, as so many of them made the list and there are so many new hot stars that made hit singles and albums this year. For example, fans will have to choose between Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan for their favorite male country singer, and given the way the ladies love these three, it might be a little difficult to cast votes this year.
